About the position
As an Employment Support Officer at Ability WA, you will play a vital role in supporting people with disability to thrive in the workplace. This includes individuals who are currently employed, those who have recently secured a job, and those whose employment may be at risk due to the impact of their disability.
You will provide individualised, capacity-building support aligned with the goals outlined in participants’ NDIS plans, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and workplace strategies needed to succeed. This includes tailored, on-the-job assistance for participants undertaking Work Experience Placements, Work Trials, or transitioning into new roles.
Your work will be guided by the principles of the NDIS, focusing on participant choice and control, community inclusion, and building sustainable employment pathways. You will collaborate closely with participants, their families, employers, and other support networks to ensure each individual has the tools and guidance needed to achieve their career aspirations.
We currently have two opportunities available:
- 1 x Permanent Full-Time position
- 1 x Permanent Part-Time position
These roles are based across our Murdoch and Belmont offices.
As an Employment Support Officer, you will:
- Provide individualised, on-the-job support for customers based on their Job Plan, ensuring support needs such as transport, skills training, and verbal or physical assistance are met
- Identify priority customers and implement agreed responsibilities in line with their Job Plan to support ongoing employment
Update Job Plans and maintain customer documentation and records to the required standard - Liaise with employers, customers’ families, and co-workers to ensure satisfactory job requirements are maintained
- Actively contribute to consistency and excellence across services, including the achievement of employment goals, program success, and positive working relationships
- Participate in professional service development sessions and operational planning
- Assist with and comply in the compilation of work procedures and instructions, ensuring they remain current and aligned with the quality system

About You
What we’ll need to help kick-start your journey with us:
- A relevant post-secondary or tertiary qualification
- Experience providing direct support and assistance to people, in disability or Government funded employment services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to tailor communication styles to audience
- High level of priority management and problem solving skills
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of the National Standards for Disability Services, the philosophy of Community Inclusion and the practice of actively supporting people with disabilities to achieve their goals
- Current Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance no older than 6 months, Current Driver’s Licence, NDIS Workers Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening check and COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
