System and Network Administrator

About the position

Ability WA operates a hybrid on-premise, data-centre and cloud-based environment. The System and Network Administrator is responsible for proactively installing, maintaining, and administering software, hardware, and network systems to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the ICT infrastructure.

This role plays a key part in shaping infrastructure architecture, including data centre and cloud service integration. The Administrator works closely with the ICT Service Desk team and Cyber Security Consultant to support the efficient delivery and continuous improvement of ICT services for both on-site and remote users.

Permanent, Full Time Position based at our Coolbinia Head Office.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive service excellence by optimising infrastructure performance and security, overseeing hardware, software, cloud, and onsite services, along with data centre operations
  • Manage systems, networks, and telecommunication services
  • Maintain backups and enhance cybersecurity posture
  • Shape the Managed Operating Environment (MOE)
  • Develop insightful management reports, monitor system requirements continuously, and assist in maintaining IT systems documentation and internal Service Desk procedures
  • Provide technical direction for the Service Desk Team - including informal coaching and mentoring
  • Participate in ICT projects and other required duties.  

About You

What we’ll need to help kick-start your journey with us:

  • 5 years relevant industry experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry-recognised professional qualifications.
  • Knowledge and experience with the configuration of enterprise-grade network equipment, including routing, switching, firewall, and WAP devices.
  • Experience in writing scripts using Power Shell (essential), and knowledge of other scripting languages.
  • Track record of being proactive and delivering continuous improvement outcomes.
  • Experience working on projects and/or managing small projects, with both internal teams and vendors to deliver new systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in embedding recognise security strategies into daily work practices to mitigate cybersecurity incidents.

  • Active Directory
  • Azure/Enter ID
  • Intune
  • Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft Stack of on-premise and cloud servers, applications and services
  • Non-Microsoft applications and services
  • Enterprise grade backup solutions
  • Storage Area Networks.
  • Routers and Switches (HP/Cisco/Aruba)
  • Cybersecurity Tools (Endpoint detection and resolution, web & mail filtering)

Requirements:

  • Full Australian Working Rights.
  • National Police Clearance (no older than 6 months).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willing to obtain).
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module (or willing to obtain).
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.
