Ability WA is looking for a General Hand to help maintain our properties and gardens, ensuring safe, welcoming spaces for our customers and staff. This is a varied role where you’ll be part of a team that keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

About the Role

As a General Hand, you’ll play a key role in property maintenance and gardening services across our sites. Your work ensures compliance, safety, and a great experience for our customers.

Your responsibilities include:

• General building maintenance and gardening tasks.
• Daily building opening and closing; participate in an after-hours on-call roster.
• Assist subcontractors and support small projects such as painting and cleaning (gutters, air conditioning filters, exhaust fans).
• Move furniture, set up meeting spaces, and assist with special events.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements.

About You

• Experience in a similar maintenance or general hand role.
• Safety-conscious and physically fit for manual tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Basic computer skills.
• Understanding of NDIS principles and commitment to inclusion.

Mandatory Requirements

• Strong alignment with Ability WA values and purpose.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Full National Police Clearance (issued within the last 6 months).
• Current and valid ‘C’ class driver’s license.
• Nationally accredited First Aid Certificate.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module or willing to obtain
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (minimum 2x doses)
